A little further (further??? or farther???) on my quest towards de-stashing my yarn . . .
Here is my inspiration:
5-1/2 Hour Throw, made with a very simple double-crochet V-stitch.
The photos don’t really do this one much justice. I can’t wait to get it finished and permanently on the sofa.
Work in progress. I don’t know about 5 1/2 hours . . . but it is quick work, and very easy. I am using two strands of Caron’s One Pound, and one strand of Lion Brand Homespun Yarn.
Here is some yarn I got sight unseen. I purchased some mill ends from Herrschners. Every now and then you can get a fantastic deal. $50.00 worth of yarn for only $7.99 (plus shipping). With this purchase I received 5 balls of some unknown type of ‘ruffle’ yarn. I love the color!
This is really a fabulous yarn. Very delicate, and feels like cotton.

I was fairly disappointed while working the second scarf and came across this.
Has anyone worked with ruffle yarn? I need to know how to work past this frayed up spot. I just hope none of the other 3 balls have defects in them . . .
I believe this may be Starbella yarn, but I am not positive. I am fairly sure that it’s not Sashay though. These pretty scarves work up fairly quickly, and are very lovely. I must admit, I was not immediately sold on them. In fact, I swore I would never purchase this type of yarn because I thought the scarves were too ‘frilly, and silly-looking’. I am now a convert, at least to this one brand (what ever it might be) of yarn.

Interesting projects. I have yet to try a ruffle yarn. It looks tricky in the holding but has a great result. Good luck with the problem piece. Sorry I can’t help you this time.
Thank you! It’s okay. I’m thinking, I just need to snip out the frayed portion and overlap the ends . . . I should be good to go! It’s only a little tricky in the first few rows. It’s pretty easy after that.
I haven’t worked with ruffle yarn but our wool shop sell a lot mainly for scarves. Looks interesting. 🙂
It’s a lot easier (at least with knitting) than you might think. 🙂
Big projects are my favorite way to reduce stash, although I usually go for sweaters because I don’t have the patience for afghans, rugs, etc. It’s even better when you can double up and use a big hook or needle. I always feel so productive then!
Sweaters! I am not quite sure why . . . I seem to have a phobia about making wearables. Specifically sweaters. I think it may have to do with the fact that I have so far avoided making swatches. You think??? (I really need to broaden my horizons.)
To me . . . afghans are a ‘mindless’ and cathartic method of creating, which I thoroughly enjoy.
