News Flash!!! Look what the postman brought me!

I really had not intended to do any more posting today.  But after I finally realized there was mail . . . I just had to share!

I am not much of a knitter, but I am trying.  I have this lovey practice ‘whatever’ going.  I suppose I will just keep knitting until I run out of yarn.

This is the farthest I have ever gotten knitting anything!

Just a simple stockinette stitch.

Okay, that’s not the news flash.  Sorry.  That’s the back story.  Sooo . . . here it is.  One day in the not-too-distant past I was browsing the web.  (Big surprise there!!)  Came across a sweet deal from  It was a ‘Knitting Needle Grab Bag-Close-out-Final’ Sale.  Price $10.00.

“Who doesn’t love a grab bag? For a cost of $10.00 you’ll receive a mystery bundle of  5 assorted needles with a retail value of over $25.00. It could be any combination of brand, size and style ranging from straight, circular, double point or flex needles. You’ll save $15-$20 on each package. The fun is in the surprise!”

How could I resist!  Here’s what I got:

Knitting needle close-out sale from Halcyon Yarn.

The retail prices are still on the packages.  All together they add up to $38.85!  Woo hoo!  I am actually excited about using them.

It’s funny, I have said for years that I would never be a ‘knitter’.  But I am sure, with a little bit (or a lot) of determination, I will do well.  My way of doing things has always been:  If I can’t do something well, I don’t do it at all.

Well, how’d I do?  Now all I need are some really, really easy patterns.  Any suggestions?

Nice needles! That’s a score! I’d say start out with a scarf of some basic type. You don’t have to worry about increases/decreases so it’s pretty hard to mess up. Or you could make various square swatches of different stitches you wanted to test out, then sew/crochet them into an afghan.

  2. Thats a great idea – I did that and loved every minute of it – you have no excuse now!
