S-o-o-o-o . . . Do you knit and/or crochet??? What are your favorite dishcloths? Me? I once was a die-hard crochet dishcloth fanatic. That is, until I started knitting. I have fallen in love with Grandmother’s Favorite Dishcloths. I actually have yet to try any other pattern, I am so happy with this one.

In progress, a Grandmother’s Favorite dishcloth
I came across a search in this blog post from Cotton Cloud’s Blog.

I am drawn to this lovely lacy Rocky Point Beach Washcloth

I love these plain-jane ones too! The garter stitch nubbies are good srubbies.
Cumulus Cloths Pattern

This washcloth / dishcloth is a great beginner project. Made with a simple seed stitch, it is so much nicer and thicker than store-bought dishrags!
I’m just fishing for some opinions. Being fairly new to knitting, I think perhaps these will be good practice. Don’t you think?

Completed dishcloth, with creamy loopy edging.
Of course, we don’t want to leave out my own humble pattern. Here’s the link to an almost perfect picture pattern (I must remedy that) Super Simple Hexagonal Cotton Dishcloth Picture Tutorial
The best thing about handmade dishcloths, they make a great last minute gift. Pair a couple with a fabulous handmade soap from your local Farmer’s Market . . .

About gmaellenscraftycorner
I am married and mother of three wonderful children, G-Ma (Grandma) to seven beautiful grandchildren.
I work full time at a nearby grocer as the Pricing Coordinator, which can be a very very stressful (especially around the Holiday Season) but rewarding position.
In my spare time, I craft and blog. Crochet is my obsession, my compulsion. My best friend, my therapist. I also have learned I love to knit! Who knew??? I may never be a master knitter, but I am a happy knitter. :D
I finally decided in March of 2011 to try my hand at selling my crafty work on Etsy (www.etsy.com/shop/gmaellen) and . . . it takes a lot of focus and determination. And time.
During the fall and winter months, (actually on into spring as well) I take part in an organized women's pool league in my area. I have been playing pool on the league for about 35 years. For the past several years my lovely and talented daughter has been playing on my team as well. This makes me very happy. My husband and sons play on the men's league as well so we are a pool playin' family! The family that plays together, stays together!
Work, family, pool and crafting and blogging. Pretty much takes up every waking minute of every day, but besides that I love movies and music (which I can enjoy while I am crafting!). And here I thought I didn't have a life!
Thank you so much for taking the time to visit my blog. I appreciate every click. :D
Never made a dish cloth in my life so cannot really comment but do think they make good practice
Really?! Some people think they are silly, and some people just don’t use dishcloths. Anyway, you should try them! You just might like them . . .
They are no – where near as popular over here but you are right, I should give them a go.
When it comes to dishmclothes I generally crochet because it’s usually faster. Both are acceptable so I think it’s which ever one you feel like at the time.
I believe I have ‘crossed-over’ to knit.
For the most part, anyway.
I understand because now I go months without crocheting and have not greatly improved my crochet skills. I am constantly improving my knitting!
Haha…Whichever you do, and love is perfect. I still crochet. A lot. But I have crossed over from crochet dishcloths to knit dishcloths.
I love the fact that I can do both!
Me too!
Very pretty pattern and the results are interesting, knitting from corner to corner.
Yes! They are so easy to make, and one of my very favorite things.
